Check-in flows define the entire guest journey at a location, including how guests check in, which data or compliance steps are required, and how access or notifications are handled.
If your organization uses multiple check-in flows (for example, different flows for visitors, contractors, or special events), you may need to update which check-in flow is assigned to a specific location. This allows you to adapt the check-in experience without changing the underlying location setup.
Changing the Check-in Flow Assigned to a Location
From the essentry Dashboard navigate to Company > Locations
Steps:
Select the desired location from the list
Click Check-in Flow in the sidebar
Use the drop-down menu to display all available check-in flows
Select the desired check-in flow
Click Update Check-in Flow
State Mapping When Changing Check-in Flows
Depending on the configuration of the selected check-in flow, it may be necessary to re-map states.
If the new check-in flow has a different set of states, a pop-up window will appear prompting you to map the states of the old check-in flow to the states of the new one.
Select the appropriate target states and click Update to finalize the change.
This action will move all guests from their current states to the newly selected states.
If both check-in flows use the same state configuration, no pop-up will appear, and the change will be applied immediately after clicking Update Check-in Flow.
