Cleaning the integrated Evolis KC Prime RFID Card Printer

1. Overview

Regular cleaning of the integrated Evolis KC Prime RFID card printer is essential for maintaining print quality and the longevity of the device.

The KC Prime requires two types of cleaning:

2. Before You Begin

You will need:

  • Evolis High Trust® Maintenance Kit

The Evolis High Trust® Maintenance Kit contains:

  • 2 adhesive cleaning cards
  • 2 pre-soaked "T" shaped cleaning cards
  • 1 cleaning pen
  • 1 box of wipes

    Tip: If the printer's LED indicator is flashing, this may be a prompt that a cleaning cycle is due. Complete the appropriate cleaning cycle before resuming printing.

 

3. Routine Cleaning: Every 1,000 Cards

Use this procedure every 1,000 cards printed. This cleaning cycle uses the adhesive cleaning card to clean the transport rollers.

Open the printer cover and remove the print ribbon.

 

Close the printer cover.

2Remove the card weight and remove all blank cards.

4Set the card thickness gauge to the MAX position.

5Double-click the control button on the printer to start the cleaning cycle.

6Remove the adhesive strip from the cleaning card.

7Place the cleaning card in the card feeder, adhesive side facing up, and leave the feeder door open.

The card will be automatically cycled through the printer and ejected.

8Remove the used cleaning card from the output and dispose of it.

Open the printer cover, replace the print ribbon, and close the cover.

 

Return blank cards to the feeder and reset the card thickness gauge to the correct setting for your cards.

4. Advanced Cleaning: Every 5,000 Cards

Use this procedure every 5,000 cards printed, or after every five routine cleaning cycles. This cleaning uses the "T" shaped card to clean the transport rollers and magnetic encoder head, followed by the adhesive cleaning card.

6Then insert the "T" shaped cleaning card into the feeder. Cleaning starts automatically.

8Remove the adhesive strip from the adhesive cleaning card and insert it into the feeder, adhesive side facing up.

9The adhesive card will be cycled through automatically. Once ejected, remove and dispose of it.

Open the printer cover, replace the print ribbon, and close the cover.

 

Return blank cards to the feeder and reset the card thickness gauge to the correct setting for your cards.
