Access rights in essentry can be assigned either dynamically within the Check-in Flow or based on the appointment duration.
When using appointment-based access authorization, a guest’s access card automatically becomes invalid when the appointment ends. This can lead to issues if the guest still needs to leave the building or pass exit-controlled areas after the appointment time.
To avoid this, you can configure an access grace period that keeps the access card valid for a defined time after the appointment ends through the essentry Dashboard.
How to Configure the Access Grace Period
- Navigate to Company > Check In Flows
- Choose the relevant Check In Flow
- Click Edit Current Flow
- Scroll down to the Onsite State
- Click the Gear Icon to access settings for the Onsite State
- Set the desired grace period duration
- Click Update in the dialog
- Click Publish & Use All Changes on the Check In Flow
Result
- The guest’s access card remains valid for the configured grace period after the appointment ends
- Guests can exit the building without requiring manual intervention
- Access is still automatically revoked after the grace period expires
